‘Thanks for your services’: wideout CeeDee Lamb set to leave Dallas.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has become a focal point of attention as he has opted not to join his teammates at the start of training camp in Oxnard, California, according to multiple media reports on Tuesday night. Despite the Cowboys beginning their camp preparations with the first practice scheduled for Thursday, Lamb remained in Dallas rather than traveling with the team.

The decision stems from Lamb’s ongoing pursuit of a contract extension from the Cowboys, which has yet to materialize despite his standout performances. This situation led to Lamb skipping the team’s mandatory minicamp back in June, resulting in fines totaling around $100,000. However, unlike daily fines that could amount to $50,000 if Lamb were to continue his absence during training camp, the penalties from minicamp could potentially be waived by the Cowboys.

Lamb, aged 25, is poised to earn $17.99 million this season but faces the prospect of becoming an unrestricted free agent thereafter if a new deal isn’t reached. His absence comes after a stellar 2023 campaign where he achieved career highs in receptions (135), yards (1,749), and touchdowns (12), leading the NFL in catches for the season.

Throughout his four-year tenure with Dallas, Lamb has accumulated impressive statistics, tallying 395 catches for 5,145 yards and 32 touchdowns. His impact on the team’s offense is widely recognized, with Cowboys offensive lineman Tyler Smith emphasizing Lamb’s significance, stating, “I mean, he’s a huge part of everything we do, for sure.”

As negotiations continue and Lamb’s absence from training camp unfolds, both the Cowboys and their fans await developments with keen interest. His dynamic playmaking abilities and role in the team’s offensive strategy make his presence crucial, making the resolution of his contract situation a top priority for Dallas as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season.
