Douglas James-Taylor to join on loan

Drogheda United is thrilled to announce the signing of forward Douglas James-Taylor on a one-year loan from Walsall FC, pending international clearance. The 22-year-old will officially join the club when the transfer window opens on July 1.James-Taylor’s football journey began at youth levels with Salford City and Stoke City.

He gained valuable first-team experience on loan from Stoke at Wealdstone and AFC Fylde before joining Walsall on loan for the 2022/23 season. The forward then signed with Walsall on a permanent deal prior to the 2023/24 season, making 63 appearances for the club.

Manager Kevin Doherty expressed his enthusiasm for the new signing, stating that James-Taylor will be a significant addition to the team.

Doherty has been impressed with James-Taylor’s overall performance and athleticism, particularly during a January spell where he played regularly. He believes that James-Taylor’s pace, power, and goal-scoring ability will be a major asset for Drogheda United.

Doherty’s familiarity with James-Taylor stems from his regular viewing of Walsall’s matches, during which he has had positive conversations with the player. He is confident that James-Taylor will be a valuable asset for the team, bringing a new dimension to the frontline.
