Breaking Now: Tigers Yet Again Receive Another Exciting news

Auburn added a new member to its 2025 recruiting class on Monday morning as local running back Omar Mabson committed to the Tigers.

Mabson, who decided to reclassify to the Class of 2025 in December, visited Auburn over the weekend. Last fall, he played a key role in leading Auburn High to the Class 7A quarterfinals. He opted for Auburn over other schools, including Vanderbilt and North Carolina.

Mabson is the second running back to be signed in this class, joining Alvin Henderson from Elba High—who is the state’s all-time leading rusher. “I believe it’s a great match,” said Auburn High coach Keith Etheredge. “Auburn and coach (Derrick) Nix have done an excellent job recruiting him. I think he’ll come in and enhance Auburn’s football program, and in turn, Auburn will help him become a better player.” The 5-foot-8, 210-pound Mabson had an impressive season, rushing for 1,382 yards and 28 touchdowns on 201 carries. He also made 11 receptions for 185 yards and three touchdowns.

“He’s an incredible young man,” Etheredge remarked in December. “He possesses all the right attributes. He can bench 375 pounds and has a 4.4-second 40-yard dash. He excels academically and consistently does the little things well. He’s the type of player any coach would be thrilled to work with. While I would enjoy coaching him for another year, I recognize that it would be selfish—he’s ready for college football.”

According to On3, the 3-star recruit is ranked No. 27 among Alabama’s 2025 prospects.
