Talen Horton-Tucker has raw skill that could draw the Miami Heat, despite his early age of victory. According to Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report, Horton-Tucker possesses enough natural talent to pique the interest of a suitor.
“Thalesen Horton-Tucker is only 23 years old, usually puts up raw numbers whenever given the chance, and has good size (6’4 with a 7’1 wingspan) for a primary playmaker, but there are still real concerns with his jump shot,” Bailey wrote in a column published on July 11. “In just 20.0 minutes, THT has averaged 10.5 points, 3.6 assists, and 1.0 three-pointers during his two seasons with the Utah Jazz.”
Bailey thinks Miami would be the ideal place for him because he’s not quite completed.
“The Miami Heat might be the team that can help him develop from his raw talent into something more reliable.”
Several players who have performed better than anticipated can be attributed to the Heat. In Miami, players such as Gabe Vincent, Max Strus, and Caleb Martin got along pretty well. Horton-Tucker might be the next big thing for the Heat, and they might get him for a low price.
Despite not being a regular member of the Los Angeles Lakers’ postseason rotation, he won a championship with them in 2020.

In a July 10 column, Bailey gave his reasoning for believing the Heat were losers in the offseason.
Bailey noted, “The Miami Heat, who have represented the East in the Finals for two of Jimmy Butler’s five years there, essentially stood still.” “Losing talent for nothing is far from ideal, even though Jaime Jaquez Jr.’s growth may eventually make the loss (of Martin) insignificant—Jaquez outperformed the substitute player last season in wins.”
Bailey went into detail on Miami’s current title chances as well as the difficult scenario involving Jimmy Butler.
“It’s easy to get worried about this team falling apart when you consider that Jimmy Butler may be playing out the last year of his contract without a potential deal in the near future.
“The Heat don’t feel like they are in the contenders’ tier after this offseason, but Miami may surprise us again given both of its recent Finals runs were unexpected.”
Horton-Tucker could strengthen the Heat’s base, but he wouldn’t lift them to new heights.
