There’s competition for the other three spots among pitchers like Jon Gray, Tyler Mahle, Kumar Rocker, Jack Leiter, Dane Dunning, and Cody Bradford.Not many ideal options exist for the Rangers if they feel their lineup isn’t strong enough. The market options are dwindling, and if they want to stay under the tax threshold, a signing or trade might be unlikely. If the Rangers decide to face tax penalties, they might consider trading for New York Yankees pitcher Marcus Stroman.
While not as strong as he used to be, Stroman could still provide valuable innings to the team, potentially exceeding 130 innings, helping to keep the rotation healthy.
Ideally, the Yankees would cover part of Stroman’s contract, but that’s improbable due to their financial position. Mike Axisa from CBS Sports suggested that the Yankees aren’t desperate to trade Stroman, but he could be useful to teams like the Angels, Giants, or Rangers. Stroman’s first season with the Yankees in 2024 saw him achieve a 4.31 ERA, although he missed the playoff roster. He significantly contributed by pitching over 154 innings during the regular season, aiding the team amidst numerous injuries.
