BREAKING: Dolphins GM suggests first-round pick with five-time Pro Bowler debating retirement

The Miami Dolphins have various options to consider with their first-round selection (No. 21) in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. Yet, following left tackle Terron Armstead’s contemplation of retirement, general manager Chris Grier hinted that the team’s draft strategy might be more defined than initially anticipated.

“We’re very respectful of his time and to his credit, he is an incredible communicator,” Grier said via Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post. “But you always look at every position when you kind of go through it and try and look and try and anticipate what some of the issues could be in the future.”

Following Armstead’s decision to prolong his playing career, he and the Dolphins agreed on a revised contract that reduced his cap hit for the 2024 season. However, the team must consider the future beyond the upcoming season.
Grier expressed his delight in Armstead’s return, given his impressive performance last season, which included conceding just one sack. Nevertheless, Grier acknowledged the potential that Armstead may not remain with the Dolphins beyond 2024.
“Armstead is an exceptional individual, and I’m thrilled that he is returning to the team,” Grier said. “His presence has significantly influenced our young players.”If 2024 is indeed the final year for the soon-to-be 33-year-old in the league, it would be a prudent decision for Miami to draft his successor.
