Kirby Smart and The Georgia Bulldogs Drop A Huge Announcement

For those closely following the 2026 recruiting cycle for the Georgia Bulldogs, the name Jared Curtis may sound familiar. He is the five-star quarterback who initially committed to Kirby Smart’s team before decommitting, only to express renewed interest shortly after.

The pursuit of Jared Curtis has been quite a rollercoaster ride, but he is definitely worth the effort. Why? He possesses the arm strength and skill to make any throw, all while being only a junior in high school. Last fall, Curtis recorded an impressive 40 touchdowns with just three interceptions and added 18 rushing touchdowns. He is widely regarded as the top quarterback prospect for 2026, with no direct competitors for that distinction.

Now, it appears that the recruiting process is nearing its conclusion. Recently, Jared Curtis confirmed that his final decision is down to two schools: Georgia and Oregon. Just one significant hurdle (Oregon) stands between the Bulldogs and possibly securing the most crucial recruit of the upcoming classes.

Curtis has decided to cancel his remaining official visits to Auburn and South Carolina, choosing instead to focus on the Georgia Bulldogs and the Oregon Ducks, which isn’t particularly surprising.

Dan Lanning is working hard this offseason to ensure that his 13-1 Ducks not only replicate their impressive recruiting success from last year but also take a further step to overcome the College Football Playoff barrier.

Kirby Smart is looking to secure the future quarterback position for the Georgia Bulldogs so that his young, talented roster has a strong leader as they aim for a national championship run in the next couple of years, potentially in 2026 and 2027.

Curtis is expected to visit both Georgia and Oregon again this spring, with plans to finalize his recruitment in consecutive weeks in early June (Oregon on June 6 and Georgia on June 13).

The Bulldogs have already secured commitments from four highly rated four-star recruits for 2026, while the Ducks currently have the top overall 2026 class, boasting seven four and five-star recruits. Whichever program secures Curtis is likely to be in a prime position to claim the number one class for this recruiting cycle, thanks to his exceptional talent. Let’s hope Kirby Smart can seal the deal.
