LeBron James emphasized a key distinction between himself and his son Bronny, one that he thinks would enable his new Lakers colleague to succeed in the NBA: “He’s not giving a damn.”
Last month, Los Angeles chose Bronny, LeBron’s eldest son, with the 55th overall draft pick.
Despite only playing one year of college, Bronny has gained attention and is currently the first father-son team to ever play in the NBA.
Although it is unlikely that the 19-year-old will ascend to the lofty heights reached by his father, LeBron maintains that Bronny possesses a weapon that he did not have when he first entered the game.
James said to ESPN, “I don’t know if people really understand Bronny.” He is indifferent. Actually, I’m a little concerned.
He doesn’t give a f***. “When I first started out, I wanted people to like me, and some of the things that people were saying about me kind of bothered me early on in my career.”
He has no regard for anyone. He doesn’t even give that thing any attention. He is the epitome of cool. He is very different from his father.
“His father will address the critics by saying something.” “Bro, he really doesn’t care about anything that is being said about him.”
Due to knee swelling, Bronny was unable to play in the Lakers’ second game in the California Classic against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night.
Though the adolescent grew up in wealth and expectation, his father—who has defied the billion-dollar barrier during an incredible career—paid credit to the tenacity of the young man once he made it to the NBA.
LeBron went on, “Just picture being a child and being born into a family where your dad was extremely wealthy and well-known, and you the kid still had the drive to be able to accomplish things for yourself.”
“If the roles had been reversed, I don’t know if I could have done that.” I had no choice but to come up. There was really no other option for me. I had to figure it out on my own. my mother, my family, my city, and my birthplace.
When Bronny passed out and had a heart arrest during practice last year, it cast doubt on his future as a basketball player.
The young man is unique, and LeBron said, “the commitment for him to be coming out of heart surgery less than a year ago, for him to be able to be in the NBA.” He doesn’t care, though. He doesn’t. He’s not bothered by it.
